The mission of Equitas Academy Charter Schools is to prepare students for college, careers, and life pursuits, and inspires them to be champions of equity. We currently serve over 2,000 students and operate four elementary schools and two middle schools in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles This role supports the expanded learning programs at the assigned schools. The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) assistant would be asked to support the day-to-day logistics of the ELOP programs such as gathering attendance data, supporting scholars with their transition from the school day to after-school programs, and ensuring student supervision during program hours.
Start Date: August 1, 2024
Salary: Starting at $20/hr
Hours: 9:30 am - 6:00 pm, August - June
Responsibilities:
- General administrative duties for ELOP programs, including helping dismiss students from programs
- Collect and enter data into ELOP databases. Maintain student information files and other filing systems for ELOP
- Intake and direct students coming to office for medical, behavioral, and other reasons
- Assist ELOP Coordinator with managing and maintaining inventory of supplies
- Ensure confidentiality regarding school and student records
- Support recruitment and enrollment efforts for ELOP programs
- Translate as needed
- Help coordinate special ELOP events
- Follow policies and procedures for health, safety, and nutrition
- Maintain open lines of communication with staff, parents, and other stakeholders
- Assist ELOP coordinator and Director of Extended Learning with special projects
- Supervise transitions into ELOP programs and dismissal of ELOP programs
- Supervise meal breaks and maintain student behavioral expectations
- Support with behavior referrals, including supervision of students and communication between parents and ELOP instructors
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to manage several projects and demands simultaneously
- Experience working in a school setting preferred
- Customer service orientation for all our stakeholders
- Strong technological proficiency in Microsoft Office; comfortable using a Mac and learning new technologies
- Strong commitment to our mission
Qualifications and Experience
- Bilingual-Spanish required
- Minimum of an Associates degree required
- Experience working in a school setting preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work well in fast-paced environment, with changing responsibilities
- Compliance requirements: fingerprinting, TB test - CPR and First Aid certification within 60 days of hire
$20 - $20 an hour
Salary and benefits:
This is a full-time position. Hourly wage starting at $20/hour. Benefits include medical/dental/vision coverage and paid sick and vacation time off.
