Two Six Technologies is seeking a Social Scientist Co-Op to research and develop tools and techniques for eliciting and modeling subject matter expert (SME) knowledge, that can help provide a novel understanding of social systems. Interested candidates should have demonstrated expertise in social science research as well as keen technical acumen.
At Two Six Technologies you will join a small, multidisciplinary team of researchers from industry and academia that values cooperation and creativity. In this role you will become familiar with topics in global aid and development and help develop social models that can quantifiably predict a populations’ response to various interventions and exogenous events.
Responsibilities Include:
- Design interview protocols for conducting in-depth interviews with subject matter experts (SMEs) from a range of disciplines.
- Conduct interviews with SMEs and use fuzzy cognitive mapping (FCM) techniques to construct system models that represent SME knowledge.
- Perform additional data processing and analysis tasks as needed.
- Work with a multi-disciplinary research team to construct models to quantifiably predict human behavior from SME input and other natural language data sources.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years of work experience and/or pursuing a graduate degree in the field of social science or a related field.
- Understanding of fuzzy cognitive mapping (FCM) and other tools used for participatory modeling in the social sciences.
- Understanding of broad machine learning and data science topics.
- Familiarity with common programming languages and data models (e.g. Python, JSON).
Nice If You Have:
- Understanding of the tools and methodologies for social science modeling (e.g. agent-based modeling, probabilistic programming).
- Familiarity with aid and development topics in sub-Saharan Africa.
- Active DoD Clearance
Clearance Requirements:
