Two Six Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Cybersecurity Researcher to spearhead innovative research into emerging cybersecurity threats and advanced assessment methodologies. This role requires a deep understanding of cybersecurity principles and a proven track record in leading and mentoring high-performing teams.
The selected staff will be required to work up to 4 days/week in our Arlington, VA office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cybersecurity Research: Conduct in-depth research on network operations, tools, protocols, vulnerabilities, and TTPs
- Custom Solutions Development: Develop custom tools, software, and platforms to meet specific customer needs and requirements.
- Methodology Development: Create novel, defensible, and repeatable assessment methodologies to determine risks to business units, infrastructure systems, missions, and assets
- Research Leadership: Lead research initiatives focused on cybersecurity, critical infrastructure, system assessments, control system vulnerabilities, attack vectors, and prototyping solutions.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor teams of diverse subject matter experts, ensuring effective procedures and processes for assessing risk, vulnerability, and system resiliency.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong customer relationships to establish trust, rapport, and repeat business.
- Project Portfolio Management: Oversee a project portfolio, ensuring projects are executed on time, under budget, and with 100% customer acceptance.
- Funding Advocacy: Advocate for customer funding to address shortfalls in planned cybersecurity research.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Networks and Security, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on ICS/SCADA/OT systems OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Networks and Security, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus additional coursework and at least 7 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on ICS/SCADA/OT systems
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in programming languages (Python, Java, C/C++, Go, Rust), cybersecurity tools (Nessus, BurpSuite, Wireshark), and various operating systems (Windows, Linux).
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to distill technical information for non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Military Experience: Uniformed or civilian cyber-related background, particularly in national security and/or critical control systems.
- Industry Experience: Experience in building automation, industrial processes, SCADA, and HVAC/DDC systems.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage large-scale projects in resource- constrained environments, and cross-train team personnel in various functional areas.
Clearance Qualifications:
Active Top Secret Clearance with eligibility/willingness to obtain a polygraph.
