Position Overview
The Workplace Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety programs and policies to ensure a safe and compliant work environment within our organization. This role involves collaboration with various departments to identify potential hazards, conduct safety audits and investigations, track and trend safety incidents across the organization, and provide training to staff. The Workplace Safety Manager plays a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement in health and safety practices. They are a key business partner and critical advisor fostering positive relationships with Quality, Compliance, and Area and Clinic Leadership. This role can be remote anywhere in California.
What You'll Do

- Safety Program Development: Develop and implement comprehensive workplace safety programs, plans, policies, and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Proactively monitor controls to identify and address potential associate theft and asset loss and foster cross functional relationships
- Develop shortage action plans in high-risk clinics and organize reports to identify potential loss issues and investigate any issues to assist the company in protecting employees and assets
- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with UCA, OSHA and other relevant regulations
- Incident Investigation: Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Maintain a comprehensive log of all investigations, and conduct tracking and trending to identify gaps and areas for improvement across the organization
- Training and Education: Design and deliver safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientation, ongoing education, and emergency response procedures. Conduct interactive question and answer sessions with staff to ensure comprehensive understanding of our safety program
- Compliance Management: Stay current with industry regulations and standards, ensuring that both the medical group and Carbon Health Technologies complies with all applicable health and safety laws
- Emergency Preparedness: Manage emergency preparedness and response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure readiness in case of emergencies
- Safety Committee Leadership: Lead the safety committee, facilitating meetings, setting agendas, and ensuring follow-up on action items
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training, incident reports, and regulatory compliance documentation
- Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement in health and safety practices through regular review and enhancement of safety policies and procedures
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries and communicate effectively with all levels of staff regarding safety matters
About You

- Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in workplace safety management, preferably within a healthcare or medical group setting
- Certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant health and safety standards
- Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to train and educate staff effectively
- Attributes: Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a team
