RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as a liaison between all Sotheby’s North American departments and the New York Commercial Legal team with respect to auction matters, sponsorship and event agreements and NDAs, with the primary responsibility of drafting standard agreements and amendments using approved templates and requesting information required for drafting as needed
- Work with the New York Commercial Legal team on any non-standard agreement requests
- Review contract mark-ups with the Legal team and the appropriate business team and assist with revisions as necessary
- Assist Legal and the business team with other matters related to contracts
- Engage with other key internal departments to execute other responsibilities including (but not limited) to: Risk, Tax, London Legal, etc.
- Create and update all necessary agreement forms
- Address and respond to any other matters at the direction of the Sotheby’s commercial legal team
IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- Relevant experience in a sales business, preferably art-related, or in a corporate legal environment
- Discreet, dependable and proactive
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Strong attention to detail is a priority and follow-through
- Must be able to perform and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently meet constant deadlines while maintaining a professional manner
- Excellent phone manner and client service attitude
- Computer efficiency with Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to interact calmly, patiently, and professionally in challenging situations
- Demonstrates the highest degree of professionalism, integrity, and ethical judgment
The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $50,000-$60,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
