We are seeking a driven, enthusiastic individual to join us as a member of Cartera’s Marketing Operations team. The Marketing Automation Developer’s key responsibilities will be to update code for marketing communications (such as HTML, CSS, Freemarker Template Language, and JavaScript) and data queries (such as SQL, XML and JSON), and to assist with operations for the entire marketing organization. The Marketing Automation Developer will be part of a fast-paced and dynamic digital marketing team, whose work will improve the entire team’s functionality as well as the improve the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. You will be joining Cartera at a time when we are growing rapidly, adding new digital products and clients.
Responsibilities include:
Operations and Automations Development Support
- Support the creation of new marketing templates as well as updating existing template code
- Manage code versioning with Github, build shared code for use across the team
- Manage code in marketing platforms such as an Email Service Provider (ESP) or a Website Personalization Platform
- Deliver on personalization requirements using Freemarker Template Language (FTL) and JavaScript
- Follow a release process to ensure updates are reviewed and approved
Data Support
- Be a subject matter expert on our marketing data structure
- Work directly with data engineers and analytics personnel
- Create and edit Structured Query Language (SQL) queries
- Investigate data issues, isolating records and cleaning data for marketing use
- Create test lists for marketing email programmers to use in development work
Process Support
- Support the marketing project management platform using Workfront and Jira
- Help with project management across multiple departments: Creative, Marketing Strategy, Analytics, and Data and Front End Engineers
- Create and edit custom forms for capturing marketing campaign information
- Aid in marketing project loading and tracking
- Monitor ongoing marketing campaigns to catch bugs and diagnose problems
Required Skills and Experience
- 3+ years of experience on digital marketing teams
- Basic understanding of HTML and CSS. Email HTML/CSS/VML best practices and JavaScript experience a plus
- Intermediate understanding of relational database structure. Vertica DB, DBVisualizer, and Structured Query Language (SQL) experience a plus
- Direct experience writing and editing code in at least one scripting or template language (other than HTML). Freemarker Template Language (FTL) a plus
- Experience with MessageGears, Dynamic Yield, Movable Ink or similar marketing platforms preferred
- Experience working across marketing departments and organizing marketing projects. Workfront experience a plus
- Experience working on multi-channel campaigns including email and web personalization on both desktop and mobile devices
- Outstanding organizational skills and demonstrated ability to handle complex folder structures and to multi-task
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- College degree, certification or relevant work experience required
