ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned

• Welds metal parts together using both gas welding or brazing an any combination of arc welding processes
• Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding
• Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes and increases size of metal parts
• Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding
• Cleans up after job is completed
• Always does inspection of work site before beginning work
• Fills out necessary hot permits
• Runs small equipment when necessary
• Does work independently without being told
• Takes proper care of tools and equipment
• Maintains proper fluid levels in all equipment 
• Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment.

• Makes minor repairs on equipment and components (incl. replacing bearings, pulleys, drives, reducer etc.)

• Works well both independently and in team environments, including directing activities of fellow employees assigned to assist welder as needed.
