Role overview
CarGurus is looking for a Payroll Analyst to join our Human Resources team. This role is crucial in supporting the implementation of bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll systems for our global workforce. The Payroll Analyst will ensure timely and accurate payment processing, collaborate on commission and bonus payrolls, and handle payroll benefit accruals. Key responsibilities include maintaining payroll records, processing data in Workday HRIS, reconciling payroll transactions, and assisting with year-end reporting.
What You'll Do:
- Manage Organizational-wide payrolls (USA, UK, Ireland, Canada)
- Collect and process company-wide payroll data
- Enter data into Workday HRIS for payroll processing
- Maintain accurate payroll documentation records
- Manage workflow to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
- Maintain employees’ tax allocations in Workday HRIS
- Reconcile payroll before transmission and validate post-processing
- Ensure timely submission and approval of employee hours in Workday HRIS
- Assist with amendments and year-end reporting (W-2, W-2c, 1095c)
- Generate ad hoc financial and operational reports as needed
- Prepare journal entry reports for international payrolls
- Process off-cycle and manual payments
- Manage the payroll inbox and respond to inquiries promptly and accurately
- Complete employment verifications
- Report daily activities and issues to the Payroll Manager
- Assist in internal and external audits
- Support special projects for the People Operations team
- Assist with equity payroll transactions
Who You Are:
- Bachelors degree with 3-4 years of experience processing multi-state and multi-cycle payrolls
- Solid understanding of payroll standard methodologies
- Knowledge of tax implications in payroll, tax allocations, fringe benefits, employee benefits, and equity grants
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with Workday HRIS
- Strong work ethic and collaborative mindset
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- Effective interpersonal, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
- Familiarity with FLSA and record-keeping requirements
