Lead Biologist

Duties

• Provides technical and administrative leadership, oversight, advice, and consultation on biological techniques that can be applied to safety-related issues to staff.
• Leads the team in identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level and/or occupational specialization.
• Trains or arranges for the training of team members in methods and techniques of team building and working in teams to accomplish tasks or projects.
• Serves as a Contract Officers Representative (COR) and works with contract staff to ensure branch and division goals and objectives are met.
• Organizes meetings of biomedical researchers, safety professionals, and research managers whose activities relate to or are influenced by knowledge gained from risk assessment studies and advances in the state-of-the-art in laboratory safety.
• Plans, schedules, and directs the scheduling of comprehensive safety surveys of laboratories, animal research facilities for the purpose of identifying potential risks and hazards associated with a variety of environments and occupations.
