POSITION SUMMARY:
DuBois Chemicals is looking for a high performing Research Scientist I with growth potential. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for surface finishing technical service with key metrics to provide profitable growth and effective solutions for the customer

Plan, organize, and execute projects designed to provide new business opportunities/projects designed to assist current customer base with technical inquires

Generate concise and timely reports on projects and research findings

Participate in the key processes of new product development, commercialization, BOM and SDS review as defined by our ISO procedures

Collaborate across-departments, such as: production, customer service, and EHS ensuring that key objectives for customers are met

Evaluate raw materials for the purposes of replacement/alternate sources of supply improve cost position or enhance the performance of existing technologies

Observe, educate and train production workers on blending practices, support production scale up of new formulas, investigate off spec batches, recommend modifications, optimize existing blending equipment researching new blending equipment/processes

Ability to perform routine wet chemical analysis, onsite and at customer sites including titrations, specific gravity, pH, volumetric dilutions, and Hull Cell analysis

Assist with content development for Technical Bulletins, Technical Data Sheets, and training materials

Travel to customer sites to assist with technical issues

Communicate on a frequent basis with customers on technical inquires

Analyze and resolve issues with surface finishing baths including alkaline cleaning solutions, acidic cleaning solutions, plating baths (acid zinc, alkaline zinc, acid tin, bright nickel, trivalent chrome), phosphating baths, conversion coatings, top coats (organic sealers, inorganic sealers).

Complete all safety and application training

Develop relationships with tollers, trade show support, and customer education

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

5+ years of industrial manufacturing, surface finishing and electroplating experience

Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, materials science or other related field required

Advanced science degree is a plus

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various levels of the organization and team

High achievement orientation; driven to perform and grow

Strong consultation, problem-resolution and interpersonal skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office, Sharepoint or database management software

Ability to travel up to 10% including some overnight travel
